    HOLIDAY INN KOLKATA AIRPORT. INDIA

    CHECK IN 14TH AUG AND CHECK OUT 15TH AUG

    The storey started with prearranged pick up at international terminal for1 am, where the driver, supposed to be with my play card , was missing. Any way after phone call and a wait, he appeared , and explained being first day of the job , he is not familiar with the area and insisted to come up to car park, we (my self and my wife) being very tired requested him to bring the car to the waiting area. The wait started again. After a while , contacting on the phone, he informed that battery of the car needs to be fixed hence will take time. I contacted the duty manager of the hotel , who replied back after sometime that driver is not able to fix the problem , better i should take the taxi. By the time i was already 2.20 am. Can you imagine taking a taxi, coming back from foreign country , along with wife, in a city you are not familiar with.
    Any way , reached hotel, checked in, lodged my protest, to the manger, who was apologetic. i asked since i m here for few hours only and next day morning , at 11.30 i have to take flight to my home town , hence ,he should arrange complimentary drop, he did not promise but replied he will talk to the senior manager in the morning.
    Got in the room, we found few hairs on the pillow and noticed perhaps the room was being used as day use, perhaps our arrival was announced during mid night hence we complained and insisted to change room. The room given was, marked as junior suit , but found no change , except little bigger and an extra sofa.
    next day at 9.15 am , i went to the reception to find out for the drop off, and was informed that its arranged, no worries . i insisted that I have to leave just after the breakfast at 10 am, hence please arrange everything so that there is no panic.
    At 9.55 am there was nothing , no baggage from the room, and no clearance of the bills, only be seated please. i saw the same driver ( of last night pick up ) was taking some one in a car.
    At 10.10 i was bit panic and ask for get the drop. i will arrange Ola, then i notice a person with 200 rupees note going outside . he came back and informed that car has come . it was Uber, I asked the driver, who confirmed.
    ONE VERY STRANGE THING: there was a lady standing behind the counter , practically doing nothing. Whenever there is someone checks out, she comes out of the counter and ask for writing the reviews. Since moist of the people not aware she ask for their cell phone and fills the reviews by herself. She came to me too, to help , but i refused to oblige.
    what a clever way of marketing or rather cheating.
    Certainly this hotel does not deserve the Holiday inn logo.
