It is a deemed University that is established under UGC Act, 1956 and is known as GITAM University. The University was affiliated to Andhra University and was established in the year 1980 and further was bestowed with the title of deemed University in the year 2007. Back then it was the only private engineering organizationin Andhra Pradesh to receive University status. It is indeed planning to receive an ABET International Accreditation. It has wonderful and picturesque campuses. The main campus is situated at Visakhapatnam that spreads over 100 acres and other two campuses situated at Hyderabad and Bangalore.
Presently the university offers 109 programs at post graduate, under graduate and doctorate levels in Pharmacy, Science, Management, International Business, Architecture, Law and Technology.
Its Vishakhapatnam campus is structured over 100 acres in Rushikonda and consist of 3 main food canteen, a multipurpose outdoor ground, indoor facilities for badminton and table-tennis and state of the art tennis courts.
Moreover the University has 24/7 health care facilities for students with ambulance for emergency cases. There is 24/7 power supply, security and indoor games. The campus has accommodation for 3000 boys and 2000 girls.
