Having seen its inception in the year 2008, Rayalaseema University, Kurnool today stands as an educational umbrella for the students of Andhra Pradesh and across the country. The University has been granted with an A grade by the NAAC constituted by UGC and offers various courses in degree and post graduate level. Few of its disciplines comprise Geology, Pharmacy, Criminology and Forensic Science, Anthropology and Computer Applications which attracts large number of students each year. Rayalaseema University is a state University and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities, AIU.
The University aims to promote education, equity, quality and accountability in the backward regions through democratization of higher education and the main aim of the University is to impart higher learning and training platform to youths of backward region of Kurnool district in the drought-prone region of Rayalaseema. There are various disciplines offered so that students can choose the subject as per their preferences and previous academic records.
