It is a Public University that is located in Chhapra, Bihar in India. The University was founded by the State government in order to meet the educational needs of students from different sections of the society. The University got its name after the name of the freedom fighter, Jai Prakash Narayan. It is a recognized by UGC as a state university. It is also a member of Association of Indian Universities.
The educational institute has 21 constituent colleges and around 11 colleges along with a college of engineering to be established soon. The University sprawls over 250 acres of land and acquires a new campus. The main campus of the University is only 2 km away from main town on the Chhapra Patna road and is smartly connected to modern means of transport.
The University caters to various educational requirements of students and offers plenty of courses to students. It has started numerous professional courses and is sponsored by the UGC. It is dedicated to promote educational interest of the members of the different communities especially schedule tribes, schedule caste and other weaker sections of the society.

I am a student of Banaras Singh Degree College, Jalapur, Chapra.My third year marksheet was not issued to me because of some reason and when I went to the college the clerk Mr.Baliram told me that the University has not accepted my Intermediate Migration Certificate. And so I have to submit it again and for that Mr.Baliram charged me Rs.800 after that I managed to do the registration some how.Now after the registraion he is demanding Rs.200 for each admit card and marksheet correction as correction fee.I was shocked and terrified thinking what is going on here.Since my session was 2012 - 2015.This is a serious matter that the college staffs are eating money as if it is the only their blood line. University should look into this type of matter as it is ruining number of students life. I am very much frustated and so I had to write this complaint.

I was a student of JP university from 2012-15 and I have applied for degree certificated online and paid 700 rupees to get the Degree certificate on my addrrss. However now its alm9st 1.5 month still not recieved the Degree certificate or not any update if it will take time bcz when I applied for this its clearly mention that the document will delivere on ur address within 30 days.
