CBEC is, Central Board of Excise and Custom, the department of revenue under the ministry of finance in Government of India. This is a nodal agency which deals in levy and collection of custom and excise duties and service tax, prevention of smuggling and Narcotics. CBEC is one of the oldest government departments in India, that’s been working successfully since 1944.IRS (Indian Revenue Service) officers administer the central board of excise and custom. The department is headed by Chairperson CBEC and other six members of Central Board of excise and custom. The department has been divided into Central Excise, Customs, Customs (Preventive) and Service Tax.
