About Kisan Call Center

To resolve the problems of farmers, The Govt. of India introduced the Kisan call center in major cities of country on 21st January in 2004 by Ministry of Agriculture. The main motive to introduce to such center to takes the queries of farmers and solves their problems. The aim of this system to help the farmers, give knowledge about new technologies of farming by which they can increase the productivity. These Kisan call center are working in 14 locations of countrywide in 22 local languages.

A common eleven digit toll-free number 1800-180-1551 has been provided to farmer. This number is accessible through mobile phones and landlines of all telecom networks including private service providers. They can call from 6 A.M. to 10 P.M. seven days of the week. They can communicate their mother tongue , the kisan call center customer care will replied in that language so that the farmer can understand that easily.

The agriculture expert known as Farm Tele Advisor who are graduated or above (Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Poultry, Bee-keeping, Sericulture, Aquaculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Marketing, Bio-technology, Home Science etc.) and possess excellent communication skills in respective local language, solve the problems. If any query, which cannot solve by the Farm Tele Advisor, then it will transferred to higher level experts.

The Kisan Call Center has a MIS software which stores all communication details area wise and analyise the queries and specifications regarding issues and replies as soon as possible. So far , more than 3 lakh farmers have taken advantage from this Kisan Call Center. The level of satisfaction is evident from the fact that around 12 percent of the calls are “Thank You” calls!
