A group of worried friends and relatives of cancer patients once decided to provide complete cancer treatment to those who are suffering from this deadly disease. They felt that it is their most important Dharma or responsibility to provide this service to all those who are suffering from cancer as there were no such facilities available in the region. On 19th April 1990, they laid the Shila or the foundation of it and registered a non-government organization known as Dharamshila Cancer Foundation and Research Centre (DCFRC).

The main motto of this organization is to make cancer treatment available to all at the most affordable cost. With 100 beds it stretched itself to a 300 bedded hospital from 1994 to 2006. DCFRC is in fact the first and only cancer hospital of the country accredited by NABH not only for cancer but for all other related specialities. Its labs are also accredited by NABL which makes it one among the best ones.
