Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) was established in July 1969, It is a public sector enterprise with a net worth of Rs. 5368 Crore. It was formed to promote and finance rural electrification projects all over the country. It offers financial support to State Electricity Boards, State Government Departments and Rural Electric Cooperatives for rural electrification projects.It offers financial assistance to various needs such as short term loan, medium term loans, debt refinancing, finance equipment required for power plant, finance for procurement and installation of meters, transformers and capacitors, finance for system improvements, etc.
