It was started under the highness Maharaja Tukojirao Holker-III, the then ruler of this region. Earlier it was known as the Bank of Indore Ltd and from 1st January 1960, it was renamed as State Bank of Indore. State Bank of Indore got hold of business of The Bank of Dewas Ltd. in 1962 and The Dewas Senior Bank Ltd. in 1965. It was given class ‘A’ category bank in 1971. After that, it is growing well. In the end of Mar. 2009, the business turnover has crossed Rs.50000 crore. State Bank of Indore was the largest subsidiary of State Bank of India. In 2010, State Bank of Indore officially merged into State Bank of India. At present, it has above 470 branches in more than 300 cities and towns. State Bank of Indore aims to play significant role as fiscal Institution for the increase of the economy.
