Allahabad University is one of the most esteemed universities of India. It is public central university Located in Allahabad Uttar Pradesh. It is the fourth oldest university of the country after Calcutta, Bombay and Madras University. It was founded on 23rd September, 1887 and the entire credit goes to Sir William Muir and Lt. Governor of United Province for its establishment and development.
Like other renowned universities of India, Allahabad University too started as a degree conferring institution. As years rolled on, it expanded the courses and offered better infrastructure and education facilities. There are different departments and buildings for different subjects such as Hindi Bhawan, Psychology department, New Library building and so on. With due course of time, various other subjects have also been added including Business Administration, Law etc.
Since the beginning of the university, special emphasis has been given on women’s education. There are special facilities for female students and the university takes utmost care of them. From the beginning only, efforts were made to offer better facility in terms of accommodation, food etc. to the distant learners as well.
