Punjab School Education Board located in Chandigarh was established in the year 1969. It was formed under the legislative act of the Government of Punjab manage the programmes and syllabus taught in the schools in the state. Another important motto of formation was to conduct standardized examinations to conduct and manage scholarships and to publish textbooks for all the curriculums.
The main headquarter of the Board is situated in SAS Nagar (Mohali), near Chandigarh. The board is managed and administered by a full-time Chairperson. The tenure of the chairman lasts for three years and he/she reports to the Secretary of School Education in the Government of Punjab. At present, the chairman of PSEB is Dr Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal.
