What exactly the meaning of GATE?
GATE refers to “Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering” is a kind of all-India examination conducted by the IISc(Indian Institute of Science) and seven IITs(Indian Institutes of Technology) jointly. This test is used to find out the performance standard of a student and also allows students to get admission in variant post-graduate programs. Besides this GATE score of students make them eligible for Interview directly in various government-owned companies.

What kinds of modifications have done in GATE-2015 exams?

The exam of all 22 papers will be done through an Online CBT i.e. Computer Based Test. Few questions are also included in question paper for which you need to key numerical answers with the help of virtual keypad.
GATE-2015 examination will be held between January 31, 2015 and February 14, 2015 in forenoon and afternoon sessions.
Fingerprints and Photographs may be captured before the initialization of exams; Nor for all students but randomly selected students.

What are the eligibility criteria for GATE-2015?
Below mentioned categories of students are only eligible for GATE-2015:

Students who have bachelor degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture or Pharmacy i.e. B.E., B.Tech, B.Arch or B.Pharma respectively.
Students who have master degree like M.Sc, M.A., MCA.
Students who have dual degree programs in Engineering/Technology or Integrated Master’s degree programs.
Students who have Post-B.Sc Integrated Master’s degree programs in Engineering/ Technology.
Students belong to equivalent B.E./B.Tech examination of Professional Societies.

Website Opens for GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS): Till 01, September 2014 i.e. Monday,

Final Date for Submission of Online Application via Website: Till October 01, 2014 i.e. Wednesday 23.59 Hrs.

Final Date for Request for Change in the Choice of City: Till November 21, 2014 i.e. Friday

Accessibility of Admit Card on the Online Application Interface for printing: Till December 17, 2014 i.e. Wednesday.

Online Examination sessions of GATE 2015– In Forenoon: 09.00 AM- 12.00 Noon and Afternoon: 02.00 PM-05.00 PM on 31st January, 1st January, 07th, 08th and 14th February 2015 (Saturday and Sunday)

 Declaration of Results on the GATE’s official Website: On March 12, 2015 (Thursday, 17.00 Hrs)

Fees Details of Application: For General or OBC male candidates the application fees is Rs.1500/- and for female it is Rs. 750/-. For SC/ST/PWD category candidate Rs.750/-.

Process of downloading GATE-2015 Admit Card
You can download admit card from the zonal GATE website tentatively from December 17, 2014.
Please note your admit card will not be sent through email or post.
You need to come with print-out of downloaded admit card with your original photo identity card.
It is must to come with photo identity card otherwise you will not be allowed for the examination.
Question Pattern of GATE-2015
Question Papers patterns: In all the papers, 65 questions will be there carrying 100 marks, out of which 10 questions contains 15 marks are in General Aptitude (GA).

You will find the papers bearing the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE. 15% of the total marks will belong to Engineering Mathematics, 15% of the total marks will belong to General Aptitude and the remaining 70% of the total marks will belong to subject of the paper. You will find basically following two types of questions in GATE 2015 examination:

MCQ i.e. Multiple Choice Question: Theses kind of questions will carry 1 or 2 marks. As these are objective types of question, thus you will find four options among which you need to choose one.
Numerical Answer Questions: Theses kind of questions will also carry 1 or 2 marks. But you will have to enter a real number as your answer which will be entered only with the help of virtual keypad.
Note: 1/3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer in case of 1 mark multiple choice questions and 2/3 marks will be deducted for 2 marks multiple choice questions. There is no negative marking is specified for numerical answer type questions.’

In order to login to this interface you should have a chosen email id and password.
Try not to disclose this information with anyone even your loved ones.
You can apply, download admit card, view your GATE score through this interface.

How to fill application online?
You can get access of GATE online application interface from the GATE website.

First you need to register yourself by providing a valid email id.

Be careful while choosing your email id as all the communication with GATE office will be done through this only.

You will get an email with a link and one time password upon registration.

After first login it is essential to change your password. But try to choose a strong password that should not be guessable.

Get all your documents ready including personal info, communication details including pin, your degree details with your college address including pin code, your photograph according to requirement, signature with size as it is mentioned in the form,  net banking details and entire supporting documents.

You can save your partially filled form and later it can be resumed.

Before making the payment and take a deep look on your application as after submission of your form with payment you will not be liable to edit.

If you have selected online payment then follow the procedure mentioned over there. In case of challan directly proceed to the next step.
