Air India is the national flag carrier of India. It is the fourth-largest domestic airline, behind Jet Airways, IndiGo andSpiceJet, in terms of market share. It has also operated an international hub at Germany’s Frankfurt International Airport but it was to be terminated with high costs. The airline is now operating Dubai International Airport.
Its merger with Indian Airlines in 2011 resulted multiple problems during 2007-2011.
Star Alliance, the world’s largest global airline alliance, headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, suspended nomination of Air India membership to join its list in August 2011 as airline fall short to meet the minimum standards.
Conspicuously, the government of India granted bailout package to Air India in April 2012.
